Rogers Junior Bible Quizzers are TITANS for Christ

Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator.  Honor Him in your youth before you grow old and no longer enjoy living.

T         Teachable – John 13 : 12 - 17

12 After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing?  13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’, and you are right, because it is true.  14 And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.  15 I have given you an example to follow.  Do as I have done to you.  16 How true it is that a servant is not greater than the master.  Nor are messengers more important than the one who sends them.  17 You know these things – now do them!  That is the path of blessing.

I          Integrity – Proverbs 10 : 9

9 People with integrity have firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.

T         Tested – I Corinthians 3 : 10 - 15

10 Because of God’s special favor to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder.  Now others are building on it.  But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful.  11 For no one can lay any other foundation than the one we already have – Jesus Christ.  12 Now anyone who builds on that foundation may use gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw.  13 But there is going to come a time of testing at the judgment day to see what kind of work each builder has done.  Everyone’s work will be put through the fire to see whether or not it keeps its value.  14 If the work survives the fire, that builder will receive a reward.  15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss.  The builders themselves will be saved, but like someone escaping through a wall of flames.

A         Attitude – Philippians 2 : 5 - 8

5 Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.  6 Thought he was God; he did not demand and cling to his rights as God.  7 He made himself nothing: he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.  8 And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross.

N        Name – II Chronicles 7 : 14 14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.

S         Special – Psalm 139 : 14

14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully special!  Your workmanship is marvelous, and how well I know it.

Quizzers Creed:
  • I will pray before I study.
  • I will study every day.
  • I will pray after I study.
  • I will fast at least once a week.
  • I can and will memorize.
  • The keys to memorization are repetition and concentration.
  • I will concentrate - shutting out everything from my mind except the verses I am studying.
  • I will review on schedule - even if it means postponing new learning.
  • I can and will improve my buzzer speed.
  • Every question is a new game.
  • My attitude and spirit will not be based on performance.  A good attitude always makes me a winner in God's eyes.
  • I will always remain kind to Quiz Masters, Judges, and other Quizzers.
  • I will listen to what type of question is being read, so I can interrupt intelligently.
  • I will listen for and learn to anticipate key words, instead of being a "guessing quizzer".
  • I will not wait to think of the answer before I hit the buzzer.  I will hit and think and then answer.
  • If I stumble, I will stop and think:  Is this fixable?  If so, I will carefully "fix" my question or answer.  If not, I will stop and not give out "freebies"
  • I will not be intimidated.  God has not given me the spirit of fear.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
  • I will practice interrupting or wish I had.
  • I will reference my material with flash cards daily.
  • I will study no less than 7 hours per week during the school year and 12-15 hours per week during summer vacation.
  • I will listen to the Quiz Master as I interrupt the question.
  • I will always try to quiz my personal best as unto the Lord more than against the opposing team.

Zach In Action

"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit!" (Zechariah 4:6).

1. I will remember that the Lord considers my study time as time spent with Him.

2. I will quiz unto the Lord and not against the other team or against my own team members.

3. After I prepare with all my might, I will put the hard work behind me and reach to the Lord,

trusting Him to put what He knows is best for me in my hand.

4. If I win, I will not let pride in my heart but will give glory to Jesus for the victory He gave,

and remember where any ability comes from in the first place.

5. If I lose, I will not sink into despair but will trust God to teach me the lessons I need to learn

in defeat.

6. I will always pray before I study, asking Jesus for His help and blessing. I will pray for my

other team members and coaches each day.

7. When I feel like giving up, I will refuse to do so, because I quiz by His might and power and

that supply is endless. (Remember the 3-legged stool?)

8. I will always remember that my coach is the leader and will follow directions always even

when I don't like it or understand why. I know God cannot bless disobedience.

9. When my teammates or other quizzers do well, I will rejoice with them in their joy.

10. When my teammates or other quizzers do not do well, I will encourage them and pray for

them.

11. I will remember that God will not judge me by my success in the eyes of others, but by my

faithfulness in preparation.

12. I will always remember that I am filling my heart full of the Word of God so that I can be

ready to fill my place in the Kingdom full of knowledge and power!!

13. At every tournament, I will be aware that I represent my team, my pastor, my church, my city

and above all -- MY LORD!!
